i've been practicing my guitar a lot recently getting better day by day but noticed all the songs i choose have a touch of the blues about them. i've lost my spark a bit lately and it's hard not to make work about it so i got all my 'eyes only' notebooks out and found lots of little notes about things that make me smile. i thought i'd share a few with you.

  • a cow that walked over my head on the M5
  • a baby starling carrying a huge french fry (preston services)
  • a blue inflatable dolfin over oxford services
  • my dad laughing at his own jokes
  • the random sound a escaltor makes
  • a pair of trainers hanging over a telephone line (Reading)
  • a little black and white cat hiding in a thicket of twigs (outside my mums house)
  • my friend Ed chuckling (he was on Liz Kershaws radio show yesterday about 1 o'clock)
  • the sound my Bernina makes when i switch it on
  • my sisters springer spaniel carrying tigger as a present for me
  • waking up to Shaun Keaveny
  • a lady who swims backstroke like a windmill
  • men who wear wigs that move slightly when they turn their heads

A friend reminded me last night of this Flight of the Conchords video, i hope it makes you smile today

I've being having a busy couple of weeks with open studio and book signing (see me signing). The open studio was a great success thanks to everyone who came along and bought a book. There was a steady stream of visitors from 10am in the morning to 5pm in the evening. Last weekend i was exhibiting at the Hereford Contemporary Craft Fair. My friend Sarah Walker has written a lovely blog post about me and my work and her visit to the show. She took a particularly delightful picture of me highlighting my big welsh hooter!

i feel i need a holiday after all this activity but not quite yet, I'm teaching a Klimt workshop tomorrow for Reading Embroiderers Guild tomorrow, then i can have a rest. i could sleep for a fortnight!!
